Moving On…..

A quick update for my beloved community: I just had my post-op appointment at MD Anderson in Houston Monday. The surgeon is pleased with the healing and very happy she was able to get everything. When we pressed her on what that means she said, “There is no evidence of disease….for now.” They don’t exactly jump up and down and tell you how great you’re doing — very dry and direct, those cancer docs.😜

To try and keep that for now forever, I will have 3 follow-up chemo treatments starting next week as prevention. This will get any microscopic bits not seen during surgery. After that I’ll be on a maintenance drug for a year and I “get” to go back every three months to Houston to make sure nothing is lurking.

So while the docs are always going to be cautious and remind me of the recurrence rates, I am taking this for the win it is.

In a weird little mishap here at the Belinski house, my husband was cutting off his Snowmass Wine Festival wristband last weekend and accidentally cut the Pray for Charla bracelet he hasn’t taken off since April! 😳 Not one to panic in a crisis, Tim decided it was a sign. Time to move on.

    Someone will need to draw the connection between the WINE FESTIVAL and Tim’s fumbling with the scissors. Consider the connection made. I do applaud him for owning it, and additionally, for not feeling the need to find duct tape. As for Houston, I’m delighted they have you in their nest. Now, stay put and grow strong in His care for you. You’ll be flying soon enough. Dar xo

      I like plan moving forward and L O L I definitely think that tTim accidentally cutting off the wristband is a sign from up above that it is definitely time to move on. Funny how those little things happen when that can only be the explanation for the timing . Now your life and Tim’s and the entire families takes on a different meaning and with gratitude and love Life goes on as it should. It has been amazing to be able to take this journey with you and be reminded of how positive thinking and courage and faith can help us all to get through so many things in life. Thank you Charla for allowing us to be part of your journey and we will continue to be by your side in the good times now as well. Love Bobbi 💖🤗💕

    Dear Wonder Woman!

    Great news from the “lacking in exuberance” doctors. The most important thing is that you take care of your body, mind, and spirit. God has you in the Palm of His Hand throughout this horrible experience. I hesitate to use “horrible” since it has also been jubilant in many ways; and, prayers from untold hundreds have surrounded you throughout. God works in mysterious ways, and He might be telling you to watch over yourself and your health and not take on too much.

    Love and prayers abound!

About Charla

In March of 2023 our dear Charla was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer which had spread to the lymph nodes. Charla is a beloved friend and pastor to so many. In an effort to keep all of those who care about her in the loop, and lighten the communication load that would inevitably fall on Charla and her family, we have established this blog. Please post your comments of positivity, prayer, encouragement, and inspiration on this site, or mail encouraging messages via snail mail.

Prior to this diagnosis Charla had tossed around the idea of starting a podcast. With a background in PR and TV, years of expertise teaching and writing on parenting and other topics, a Doctorate in Ministry from Duke University, and 13 years under her belt of co-pastoring and leading a church, Charla has a deep well of wisdom to draw from and “kick around” in conversation in a podcast setting. We can’t wait to “kick it” (slang for “hang out”) with Charla in the years ahead and hear her declare triumph over this diagnosis.

For now, we join Charla in solidarity, with love and constant prayer, as she kicks cancer out of her body.
